What Can
You Do?
- Write or phone your Congressman and Senator and tell them you know
about how FWS is covering up the audits of the state fish and wildlife
agencies. Ask your representative to demand an audit of FWS handling of
this matter by the General Accounting Office. They are the ones who audited
FWS three years ago and reported on FWS misuse of funding at that time.
They are honorable and trustworthy.
- Tell your Congressman and your Senator that you do NOT support giving
$45 BILLION to Federal and state agencies that cannot manage the
Pittman-Robertson and Dingell-Johnson funds any better that they have been
doing.
- Tell your Governor and state legislators that you do NOT want the state
fish and wildlife agency getting any more Federal funds to buy land and do
the bidding of the Federal regulators who control those funds. State
agencies are formed by and should remain answerable to the Governor and
people of that state. Current amounts of Federal funding are as much as is
good for your state. As the percentage of funds coming from Washington
increases, so does the percentage of control from Washington. Until the
growing authority of FWS over the state agencies is stopped, each state
should guard it’s remaining control of fish and wildlife zealously.
