New film: A WHALE OF A TALE

Hi everyone!

I’m so excited to let you know that my new film, A WHALE OF A TALE is set for US theatrical release this summer! It’s been 10 years since I made, HERB & DOROTHY.

The new film takes place in Taiji, a small fishing town in Japan (Sorry art lovers, no it’s not about art this time!).  In 2010 this sleepy town suddenly woke up in the worldwide media spotlight. The Cove, a documentary denouncing the town’s longstanding whale and dolphin hunting practices, won an Academy Award. Almost overnight, Taiji became the go-to destination and battleground for activists from around the world.

Can Taiji survive with their proud 400-year-old whaling tradition against a tsunami of modern animal-rights activism? A WHALE OF A TALE reveals the complex story behind the ongoing debate. Told through a wide range of characters including local fishermen, international activists, and an American journalist, the film unearths a deep divide in eastern and western thought about nature and wildlife and cultural sensitivity in the face of global activism

To make the release successful, we just launched a Kickstarter campaign.

We are releasing the film independently to US theaters and communities this summer. It's scheduled to open in theaters in NY, LA, and San Francisco, but we want to bring this film to many other parts of the country and the world.

Please join us in our campaign to bring A WHALE OF A TALE to the world where many polarizing issues are dealt with hatred, widening the divisions. Our goal is to offer new insights and ideas beyond the issues of whale and dolphin hunting through the film and to lead a constructive dialogue.

THANK YOU!
