IWC 54^th Annual Meeting in 2002

During the last session of IWC 52, the Commissioners had to decide on the venue of the IWC 54 meeting in 2002. Two candidates were on the ranks: the City of Shimonoseki in Japan and the city of Christchurch in New-Zealand. Each delegation appealed (one case in a highly emotional fashion) to the commissioners to support their candidacy. By Secret Ballot, the Commissioners granted 20 votes to the City of Shimonoseki and 10 to Christchurch. Congratulations to the City of Shimonoseki and Japan.

If only Secret Ballots were used more often in IWC...�
