(IYM). The IYM will focus on the well being of mountain and lowland communities
while promoting the conservation and sustainable development of mountains

An international gathering
organised by the International Centre for Integrated Mountain
Development and the Mountain Forum is to be held in Kathmandu, Nepal. It
will take place in the framework of the International Year of Mountains.
On March 8, International Women's Day, a curtain raiser is being planned
as a forerunner for the May meeting.
The meeting will aim at showing the strength and commitment of
mountain women and their positive contribution to local and national
economies. It will also address, among others, issues such as legal and
political rights, health and well-being, conservation of traditional
wisdom and natural resources. |
