Conclusion

For consideration at the next Conference of the Parties to be held in Nairobi in April 2000, Cuba and Dominica submitted a joint proposal to transfer Cuba's hawksbill turtle population from Appendix I to II. The industry is looking forward to a success of the Cuban proposal because the industry firmly believes that the adoption of the proposal will benefit both Japan's traditional culture and the conservation of the species in Cuba as well as in the rest of the Caribbean.
