BIOGRAPHY

Environmental Diplomat. The knowledge and practice of conservation has been a life-long calling for Eugene Lapointe. His ascension to arguably the highest position within the conservation community, Secretary General of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) from 1982 to 1990 was but one more achievement in a life dedicated to service of humanity and nature.

In 1994, he created the International Wildlife Management Consortium - World Conservation Trust (IWMC-WCT), a global coalition of wildlife managers who believe the most powerful conservation tool is the one that values and sustainably integrates the earth's natural resources and its human inhabitants.
