Biography

Dr. Robert "Hank" Jenkins, has served as Chair of the CITES Animals Committee since 1992. A resident of Canberra, Australia, Dr. Jenkins is a senior wildlife biologist with the Australian Ministry of Environment. He was elected to represent the Oceania Region on the CITES Animals Committee in 1989. He conducted a research program on Crocodylus porosus in Kakadu National Park from 1979-85. He is the IUCN coordinator for the Asia-Pacific Region charged with implementing the IUCN Sustainable Use Initiative in that Region.
