Conclusion

In response to the Notification of the Secretariat to contracting or signatory States of CITES, and before 5 February 2002, it is strongly recommended to the Parties to express their support for the proposal of Argentina. After that date, at the next step of the postal procedure, that described [in accordance with Article XV, paragraph 2(e), of the Convention] in paragraph 7. a) of the Notification, the Secretariat shall communicate to the Parties the comments received from Parties and the organizations consulted, and its final recommendation, which should take into account the comments received. Then, if no Party objects to the proposal during the following 30 days, the proposal will be adopted and the Appendices I and II will be amended accordingly. It is therefore hoped that the Parties will not formulate any objection at that time.
