Cost:
The African Chapter has funded the entire project so far (total investment ca ZAR 150,000 = US$16,200)
Future Plans:
  • The professional involvement of educational experts and curriculum experts in order to adapt the material to the requirements of the national education policy currently under review.

  • Contracting with an IT company to adapt the material for presentation on CD-Rom, inclusive of video sequences from the "African Game" and other video and photo material. This applies also to a professional web page design and the constant updating of the web page.

  • The recruitment of a number of qualified trainers for running teacher training workshops countrywide in order to familiarize the users with the contents and possibilities of the resource package.

We estimate the cost for the first two points at approximately 1.5 million Rand (= ca $160,000). The third point will be covered in cooperation with the Southern African Wildlife College (SAWC), where 2 day specialized courses can be held at a cost of ca R 100,000 (= $10,750) per 50 delegates. The cost would include accommodation, food and remuneration for trainers. Additionally there are annually various teacher conferences, where we would attach short workshops reaching a vast audience (in excess of 500 individuals in each conference) at a cost of approx. R 10,000 (= $1075) per workshop. We can also present one-day-courses at the Pretoria Technikon, Department of Nature Conservation, at a cost of R 25,000 (= $2,700) per 50 delegates.
