Monaco, 19 October 1997: Tuesday 21 October 1997 the IWMC World Conservation Trust will hold a press conference to release a verifying study which casts a new light on public opinion concerning whaling. 

This study showed that over 70% of the American public would support a regulated harvest of some species of whales. 

This finding directly contradicts the commonly held assumptions about public opinion on whaling issues in the United States. 

Copies of the study will be handed to members of the press at the conference on Tuesday. The time and location of this press conference will be announced.
