Words of Wisdom

"??The best people possess a feeling for beauty, the courage to take risks, the discipline to tell the truth, the capacity for sacrifice. Ironically, their virtues make them vulnerable; they are often wounded, sometimes destroyed." -- Ernest Hemingway

Book Review

A Review by Nikolas Sellheim of the book "The United Nations' Declaration on Peasants' Rights"

Is our world better off now than it was a decade ago?

The many differences between countries must be factored into any action program on fisheries: cultures, traditions, standards of living, population mix, governance, food production and the amount of trade in fish products.

The U.S. Supreme Court should end ??Chevron deference? to restore checks, balances and reality

The left end of the political spectrum is relentlessly pursuing the transformation of America??s society, history, economy, speech, borders, governing systems, healthcare, energy and living standards.

"All we wanted to do was to be able to afford to go fish and leave something behind"

In January three New Jersey Commercial Fishermen who own and operate vessels in the herring fishery had a hearing before the U.S. Supreme Court. Their lawsuit against the National Marine Fisheries service challenges a 2020 federal rule requiring commercial fishing boat captains to pay for monitors to observe catches.

In Memoriam

Steinar was a phenomenon, a respected confrontational whaler whose activities led to international media attention and diplomatic incidents. IWMC was fortunate to count on his collaboration as an active Member of the Board of Directors.

A person of kindness and generous spirit who touched the lives of those who knew him. We shared so much through the years that words of sympathy feel inadequate in expressing our grief and sorry.

Sail away from the harbor Steinar, you will be missed.
